We cut the dock lines on Saturday and had a nice motor sail down to Solomon’s Island. The weather is not cooperating so we’re just hanging here until the strong south winds abate. There’s no way we’re crossing the mouth of the Potomac river with gusts up to 25 knots on the nose!
Actually, the best reason for staying a few days is that we don’t have a schedule!! We’re on a T-head at Zahniser’s marina with electricity (heat!!), wi-fi, showers and a nice place to walk around. As we walked into town yesterday we saw so many dogs of different sizes and breeds. Turns out the Tiki bar was having a dog fest. The crab cakes at Stoney’s are still good. This is our last opportunity to eat crab cakes since our rule is to only eat crab cakes in Maryland (unless I make them.)
A beautiful day in Solomon’s Island
Right now it looks like we can leave on Wednesday unless the front moves through quicker. Guess we’ll have to enjoy more R&R!

We crossed the mouth of the Potomac with 20+ knots from the NW a couple of years ago which is no fun either. Could not wait to get to Mill Creek. Anyway, wait for good weather and let us know when you get to Portsmouth so we can possibly get together. Pete & MA

So if we were even remotely thinking about leaving tomorrow with NW gusts to 25 we would be crazy!! Unless it changes, we’ll just wait…

You guys are living the life, no worries holing up for a couple of days – totally jealous! We love Zanhisers also – the Dry Dock is very good. Fair winds on the trip!

Smart. No schedule means its about the journey not the destination. So why have an avoidable bad day?

You guys look great! I have enjoyed following your adventures in the NE this summer. I am jelous of all the fun you’ll are having. Tell Skip I am still enjoying the music he gave me off your laptop while we were hanging out at the Exumas National Park. I hope to buy my boat this winter or spring. Maybe we can sail together again soon. Fair winds to you two and Bailey on Moondance! Your friend, Daniel
