Sunrise off the Patuxent river

A beautiful sunrise was waiting for us as we turned out of the Patuxent river early this morning.  The wind was supposed to be west all day but stayed pretty much southwest until we turned into Fishing Bay to anchor near Deltaville.

As we entered the Bay the Godspeed treated us to a demonstration of how they turn a square-rigger around.  It doen’t look very easy–especially for the people who have to climb the rigging!

We dropped the hook after motoring all day near our friends on Dakota II–a lovely Sabre 402.

We also dropped the dinghy and tried the outboard motor since we haven’t used it for a while.  Worked like a charm!!

Tomorrow we head for the James River and a few nights at a marina in Portsmouth before entering the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) and making our way down the Great Dismal Swamp.  Stay tuned…
