Monday (11/3) was rainy, as predicted. We spent a leisurely morning eating pancakes for breakfast, updating the blog and planning our next phase of the journey. Our friends Judy and Danny were going to pick us up for dinner but offered to come earlier in the afternoon and take us to their house for the night. They have a beautiful Mediterranean style home north of Myrtle Beach (not North Myrtle Beach as we learned!) Their 2 year old golden lab puppy named Xena was so excited to see Bailey. He was less enthused although he did play with her a little (and snarled at her whenever she got too close.) We had a delicious steak dinner and enjoyed talking well into the evening.
After breakfast on Tuesday we took the dogs for a walk through the neighborhood. Judy took us for a tour of Myrtle Beach and showed us their clubhouse right on the beach and the different parts of town. They have the resort area which is very crowded during the summer, a honky-tonk area and a newly developed area that used to be an air force base. Judy’s neighborhood is very nice because they can walk to shopping and the beach.
We had wonderful cheeseburgers at a funky local place called Joe’s. The walls of the restaurant are covered with dollar bills decorated by patrons. Once again, we really appreciated the hospitality of friends!
After returning to the boat we knocked off a few boat projects–that list is getting smaller and smaller! We settled in for the night to watch the election results. Tomorrow we’re leaving for the Waccamaw river!
