It’s Sunday and we stayed an extra day in Hampton to wait for the wind to die down.  It was really blowing last night and most of today!  We weren’t alone as most of the other cruising boats also opted to stay safely at the marina.

Yesterday, Marty picked us up and took us to her house where we had breakfast and did our laundry.  Marty and Rocky took us over to Fort Monroe to see the grounds and visit the museum.  Fort Monroe is the largest star fort (like Ft McHenry) ever built and it’s still in active use.  They had an excellent museum that described the history of the fort.  Unfortunately, the fort is scheduled to be closed next year in the base reallignments.

Later on Saturday, we watched Emily play soccer.  Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine sitting outside in the chilly wind watching a soccer game!  Afterwards, we had a lovely dinner at Rocky and Marty’s.

They also picked us up this morning for breakfast.  What great friends!  And to think that we haven’t seen her in 15 years and it felt like we just saw her last week!  This will definitely be a stopover on the return trip in the Spring.
