We motored up the York River to spend a few nights at the Riverwalk Landing marina in Yorktown. It’s a nice location but not much of a marina. We’re practically under the Rt 17 bridge and there is very strong currents that make the boat bounce around. What the heck, it’s dry land!!
I had my first unlimited running water shower today since leaving home. That felt really nice. I may take several showers tomorrow!
Bailey tried to use the radio today when we weren’t looking. He wanted to report us to the authorities for taking him on this trip!
After the SHOWERS, we took a brief walk around town to see the historic sites. It’s pretty small–like a mini Williamsburg. The restaurant choices were slim and we definitely picked the wrong place. I ordered a crab cake at the pub and it was nasty – kind of fishy and oniony. I should have heeded my mother-in-law’s rule to only eat crabcakes in Maryland! Well, we are on the Chesapeake Bay after all–they should know how to make a decent crab cake!
Yet another beautiful moonrise (over Moondance) tonight!

Bailey called me. He says he loves you dearly, but does not like to pee on a mat. He wants more toys and a bed. And a flashlight.
What a beautiful Moonrise. I can imagine who nice that shower felt. Has Baily mastered the joy if the true portapotty yet?
I must report that a tree fell in your front yard. It did not hit your house though, because your house burned down two days ago!
Just kidding! It is great reading your blog and looking at the great photos. We wish we were with you. When you decide to sail around the Cape, we wish to join you. Best wishes and we are enjoying the trip vicariously.
Try going across the river to Sara Creek and York River Yacht Haven. Wonderful captain’s lounge, boat parts store and Rivers Inn Restaurant. One can easily anchor in the creek, well protected and still be welcomed at the Marina. We like your weblog!!
Congrats on your progress south!
Thoroughly enjoy reading your blogs and the pictures are incredible. makes me miss the cruising lifestlye and all the new adventures it brings. Enjoy, be safe, and we will continue to follow along with you.
I think I found a paw-pal for Bailey. Check out Rudy the Sailing Weiner Dog on his own page at this website: http://www.libertysails.com/index.html
It’s turning chilly here – did you get far south enough to outrun some of the cold ??
We met Rudy’s parents at the Seven Seas Cruising Association gam last month. I told Suzanne how much we enjoyed her website and also bought one of her books. It’s called “It’s Your Boat Too” and has good advice for women sailors.
